PureFTA - Server Improvements
Jun 28, 2009 - 4:46 PM - by PokerVillain
Dear Members,

As you have probably noticed when logging into PureFTA.com today, some major changes have been made to the site in the last 24 hours. This has included removing the theme, updating the shoutbox, updating to Vbulletin 3.8.3, and removing/updating key plugins. Our server admin has also tweaked the server in many areas and I am sure you will agree the forum is running so much faster.

We are also pleased to confirm that we now believe all download issues to be solved. In recent months members have had problems downloading fixes from PureFTA, often getting incomplete/corrupt downloads, or disconnection timeouts. If you do continue to experiance any issues however, please contact a member of staff.

With that being said, it has never been a better time to opt for our ViP Membership. We currently have a promotion, where, for a limited time, you can purchase the lifetime membership for $10 off standard price. Choose this option and you will never have to make another payment, and PureFTA will be here for your FTA needs for as long as FTA continues. We also offer other packages, such as monthly, semi-annual, and annual memberships. You can get all the details and subscribe here: http://www.purefta.com/forum/payments.php.

Finally, we would like to thank our staff team and all our members for sticking with PureFTA in the last few months. The site hasn't been running well, but now we are back on our feet and up amongst the best FTA sites on the web. We appreciate your loyalty and support.

Kind Regards,
The PureFTA Staff Team

N2 Another Era in FTA has Passed (Cyphris) C&P
Jun 18, 2009 - 9:52 PM - by KIKO
By now the word has spread across the internet and satellite forums alike that the N2 stream has finally come to an end. The N2 FTA hack was born on Sept 1st, 2005. It was first seen to be true by those who owned the Coolsat receivers. Back then Coolsat was king while Viewsat was still getting out of diapers. None the less, the N2 release spread like wild fire through the FTA community and before long all brands of that time had channels back up on DN. Bev didn't come till a few months later after already being dark for several months. We are once again at that crossroad. Bev has been dark now for several months and DN has just completed it's switch over to the new N3 encryption. There are many new brands and Coolsat, well is far from king. We have seen the birth of other new brands such as Captive Works, CNX and Sonicview while Viewsat has prevailed to be a mature and respected force in the FTA community.

While there is a new beast that has become popular in FTA in North America. This way of getting channels out of the dark has been in use for a long time in Europe and is by no means anything new. I am talking about IKS or otherwise also known as ICS. While this type of system is not the most liked due to safety reasons it has gotten more popular as more get desperate to get there once loved Free TV back. This has started making many brands start supporting ICS. Well the Viewsat Team is not one to go down that road and will continue to make sure that the standalone file prevails. Yes the Viewsat Team has had a few snags and wish to be further along than they are with a N3 release. Don't get me wrong they have gotten very far in progress now and with a bit more time they will show once again who is #1 and who is willing to continue making FTA users very happy just like they did back in the Summer of 2006 when the providers though Map57 would end it all. Some will say these words are just a ploy to sell more receivers. Well it isn't, it is just how it will be. I have always been one to be straight up with the public and this time is no different. I do not expect all to go running out to buy a Viewsat tomorrow with nothing to show. The proof will be in the pudding. It's just the pudding isn't quite ready to be served just yet. Many have always said History likes to repeat itself. From fashions of the 70s appearing again to the fall of the stock markets plummeting again. We can expect the same within the FTA community and its prevailing with a N3 release.

The Viewsat Team would like to thank all its supporters and are working very hard to continue to support you the way they have done in the past. Summer is hear enjoy it and don't let TV run your life. Remember to support the providers with a back up sub, because after all without them there would be no need to provide a fix
On the bright side for you South American users. N2 is still running strong on Telefonica and look for VS to come out with even more stable support for Telefonica

Do NOT PM Staff for FTA Support!
Jun 09, 2009 - 7:50 PM - by PokerVillain
We would like to take the opportunity to remind members that it is against to rules at PureFTA to Private Message staff members asking for help related to FTA.
By doing so, you risk having your account suspended for 7 days.

Members are welcome to PM staff if they have a problem with the site, or any other query, providing they are not directly asking for FTA help. PM's asking such things as "Is there a fix?", "What is N3" , "Can you fix my receiver" are all examples of unacceptable messages. These will get you suspended!

PureFTA
is a forum for a reason. Please post all your questions related to FTA in the OPEN forums. Not only will you get a faster response, your thread will also be viewable to everyone, so it could help someone else in the future.

Regards,
The PureFTA Staff Team

There are many out there who get N1/N2 confused with Map57. Here's the run-down (again)C&P

There are many out there who get N1/N2 confused with Map57. Here's the run-down (again)

Nagra1 to Nagra2
* Occurred in Summer 2005
* Channels dropped off in tiers, starting with the PPV/Porn.
* Receivers were being sold on ebay at bargain basement prices
* BEV went 100% dark in July, came back up in November
* Dish went 100% dark on September 1, came back up on September 1
* Coolsat was first with the fix, used price gouging shortly after
* Total Dish downtime: 8 hours, Total BEV downtime: 4 months

Map57
* Occurred in Summer 2006
* Lasted 2 months for most receivers
* Locals stayed up throughout the ECM, all other channels on both providers were dark
* Updates by thedssguy spoke of things like "onion peeling". None of thedssguy's fix release time frames came to fruition.
* Everyone flooded the forums proclaiming this was the "end of FTA".
* Receivers were being sold on ebay or tossed in the garbage.
* Captiveworks introduced IKS (then called "card-sharing")
* Coolsat introduced a carded fix, requiring folks to spend over $300 for additional hardware
* Viewsat was first with the true fix, establishing it as the leader of the market
