Proxy for HD8000
Is there a way to setup a proxy server for SV HD without connecting it to a computer? (something like nfusion has)

Even with a proxy you have to be connected to a computer. What a proxy does is help hide your IP. I did some checking around, and I am not familiar with the SV that much, but Sonicview has threatened to ban anyone using a proxy. After reading some more, here is a method that is supposed to give you the proxy protection you want, and Sonicview does not object to this.

OpenVPN = Virtual Private Network. This is different than a proxy.
A VPN connection builds a secure connection between two internet end points. A proxy routes your network connection through another server. The good thing about a VPN is that anyone listening in on the conversation will not be able to understand that conversation. However, they are still going to know the endpoints of that conversation. If the server is busted all IP information on conversations to the client still shows up in the server logs. With a proxy, the proxy slings those packets from the server out to the client computer. The nice thing about the proxy is the SERVER doesn't know where the actual client computer is. So with a proxy people can listen to the conversation but they don't know where the actual client endpoint of the conversation is. The only IP information on the server is the conversation to the proxy computer and not to the client itself. Lastly no one can ban anyone from using a proxy. They can only ban the proxy itself. In that case you simply have to move to another proxy.
