    Exclamation Where to start

Ok well I am a complete newbie at this game, never tried to set up my own satellite system before I have always been a slave to SKY - but no more! Their prices are getting ridiculous

I have done my homework and worked out that I would need a (preferably) motorised satellite dish as well as a receiver, from my reading I have found many people recommending the Dreambox family of receivers. I am a fairly knowledgable person in IT so the actual task of flashing the box with firmware should be a walk in the park for me. There are just a few things I do not fully understand and would like clarity on:

Could someone give me recommendations of which dish and receiver combination to use? Actually, a full list of components required would be nice as I have found a few conflicting articles - some saying I need 'this' and other's saying I don't need 'that' etc

Also, when the equipment is installed and the box has been flashed - what would be the procedure of decrypting certain satellite signals, primarily to receive premier league football. I have read that I would either require a CAM or an ISK. Can someone provide some clarity on this situation as I have also read that ISKs can be located back to your IP address and scrambled..? Or am I talking out of my backside?

Also the procedure in which to install a CAM or ISK would be nice too.

I realise that this project would probably result in having to fork out a couple hundred, but if it is going to save me my monthly SKY subscription then great.

I hope someone can understand what I am trying to ask, like I said I am a complete newbie to all of this - I do understand technical jargon, being educated to degree level in IT however if someone can help I would request they keep it relatively simple and straight-forward

I'll owe anyone who can sort me out, a beer!

Can tell you that I won't get this all in one post, others will add to it. If you are looking for D**h or bev you won't need a motorized dish. You need to decide if you want HD or SD, SD needs to collect fewer birds. The Dreambox is fine. You will need a private server to provide codes to the Dream. You need to select a server depending on which service you are interested in. You can do a comparision of some of the servers at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...hl=en_US#gid=0. Once you narrow things down a bit then you can get a suggestion on dish type and lnb's. You will also need a gerneral location to be able to get a dish size suggestion.
