Bev has been changing maps & timers quicker than Hillary clinton changes her mind. When we down load a fix it is overwritten on top of the previous fix, Inevetabaly some of the old fix stays around. At some point trash within the bin starts to accumulate after a while. Bev knows this and of course has been trying to brute force our processors just like we have been trying to brute force there map calls & timers. The result they have been successful in jamming & freezing (locking up) some recievers just by over written trash in the bin. They have also been successful in causing freezing issues again by adding trash to your bin.

To compensate for their smarty pants move I advise everyone to do a file dump and get a clean memory as a result. Do a factory default and reload all of your settings and after you have signal and have auto scanned , then reload your new bin. It is not a perfect solution, but I do have several machines of the same order date. The ones I defaulted froze much less than the one I didn't and the ones with default seem easier to load.

Happy testing.

Kudos to the coders the Marines of the Sat Wars.

good post...i suggest that everyone do a factory default, then load factory bin. Do another factory default. Load working bin and fac default once again. Scan sats.

Is loading the new bin, then a factory default followed by loading your settings then an auto scan not the same thing just in a different order?

no its not the same thing. Do a factory default, then load factory bin. Do another factory default. Load working bin and factory default once again. After that Scan sats. This is the order you want to do it in.

In theory that makes sense, but I have an original VS2000 that has had probably over 50 bins installed and have never had the factory bin installed prior to installing an update. I have two newer STB's and all three seem to have the same freezing issues from time to time. I'm just not convinced that it makes a difference.

loading the factory default bin erases anything that is left over from the previous bin. You might not know it, but every time you load a new bin over previous one there might still be some minor things left over. Loading the Factory default eliminates these lefts overs.

In the "old days"when the st1000 blackbird was functional this was called "washing out the old file bits".

i always put the bin on top of the other, when you have a motor, and all the setting that this kind of hardware needs, you better think twice before performing a factory default........

hey thank you for the update see it proves it is very important to "read before you react".

sorry if this seems obvious, but when factory bin is mentioned does this refer to say Coolsat 5000 Factory Flash that I seen in the files forum?
