How many more ECM can there be? There are signs of optimism though, as it's taking less time for the coders each time to fix it. With some luck, we should be able to get it back up and running before midnight, assuming they don't slack off. haha

This seems like the perfect scenario for B3V. If they can ECM everyday and it takes until the next day for a fix, it means very little uptime for FTA boxes.

But how long can they continue this barrage of electronic attack activities?

as long as they want this could be the end, and to think it is probly the easiest thing they could do

people are to negative! just have to wait for the coders to get closer to a full emu. This mirage of attacks will most likely end after the holidays. Dont get detured thats what bev/charlie wanted
just think they are helping all this project fund itself. People freeze receivers, buy new receivers for faster released fixes, pay for vip access into web sites, and usually gain $$$ from local customers that want reloaded. There feeding the pockets of the fta sat community Thanks **** and bev keep up the good work

What better way to discourage a potential newbie from buying a receiver as a christmas surprise.
I was looking at upgrading to an HD, but am going to hold off until this blows over. HOPE

I saw a message on bell that said something about "inventory control" and advised the viewers to call in if they have any problems. I wonder if the ecm is affecting paid subs?

Just before X-mas season..coincidence? Saturday before the $49.99 PPV event..coincidence?? Yesterday again minutes before the main card on the aforementioned PPV event..coincidence??? Someone at B*V has a sense of humour. I've been through this all before and I am one of the few that have no sub at all. Kind of nice to sit down and read, play board games and do puzzles with the kids. I can wait. Remember, there's no such thing as free TV. For those people that are complaining about being ripped off (???) and conspiracy theories, take some time and go read through the forums so you can educate yourselves and not have to post your previously answered questions. Just a thought....

I agree with piston.D**k still running on vsat is agood indication we will be up soon. Been doin this for years and never thought it would gon this long. I put alot of stuff on DVR for times like this and have reg cable as b-up. Be patient.
You all need to take a step back and assess the situation.
Of course they are going to try and mess things up in time for christmas, and I'm 95% sure both DN and Bev will be down in the runup to, and quite possibly during Xmas day.
You are getting their sub service free, its only natural that they want to hit us during holiday seasons.. as it will make people think about subscribing to guarentee themselves TV during the festive period.

I heard from paid subs that there recievers are going down and B*v is telling them there unit is worn out so this is costing them cash and tons of complaints. hopefully they will give up soon. Mabey its a plow to upgrade all paid subs so the new flies wont fit on are old recievers like Vsat plat?

Be patient!!! I've been involved in this hobby for awhile now. I started with Dave, and there were times when it went down for a little while, only to get back up and running better than before. It always seemed to happen this time of year. FTA is still the easiest and best method.

I am also a paid sub with Bev and also have FTA. With my paid Bev, one receiver is working fine, and one is not. I had to call them twice to get it up and running and still waiting for them to get the paid receiver up. So, I think when they send this ECM, --- some paid people also go down ---

get real. come on you are stealing a paid subscription and you have the nerves and balls to criticize the coders or the system, you bought a FREE TO AIR receiver not a sub stealer. If you thought these boxes were the end all to your tele worries then I have a bridge to sell you. READ about the system it works when it works and when it doesnt we wait. And besides I still had the fight Sat. night. the ppv sports and Nhl package were still up on d###
To the coders THANKS for all you have done and all you are working on. Till this is beat keep up the good fight and if it cant be beat. thanks for the efforts.
TO all the naysayers, Call bev and d@@@ and go legit then you wont be down as much. OH yeah that cost money something you dont want to spend. easier to bitch isnt it.
HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL>

I too have noticed problems with paid bev units. One newer unit and one quite old unit. The screen will go dead for several minutes, often for the last 10 minutes of programming in a hour. Most annoying for the paid subscribers (myself among them). With these problems, I had expected BEV to call off the frequent ECMs, but apparently they are not making their subscribers mad enough yet. FYI in Canada many paid subs have switched to *Choice for the better customer service, after getting fed up with BEV. So perhaps they can get away with the ECMs because the customer service has been so poor that the people who complain a lot have already switched? Interesting corporate strategy...
I'm going to hookup a SC this week. Forget about Bev, her service stinks, which is why a lot of people sart testing. They must think that by implementing these ecms that ftaers will simply subscribe to their "service". I thought about it and just about did but I will go w/S Choice and I hope others who are considering a sub do the same.

I have been with Satellite since the early 80s when you need a 10' in the yard to pick up so so quality. My 1st unit cost me $3500.00 and came in a 2 piece unit. A reciever and the position. I was forever cleaning off the snow and repostioning it because of frost heavy. My second one was a single unit that had to be keyed in about once a month. You had to call someone for the code and manually enter it. The box cost me another $1500. and $500. to reset that 10 footer when I moved. I went to B*v for a year when things got dicey with the big antenna. I those days B** had the only game in town if you weren't in a cable service area. There were a lot of use. It was expensive, lacked
decent programing (buy a 20 channel package to get 1 you wanted) and the service was both unforgivable and unforgetable. Then along Came Dave. best progaming on the market. Slight problem. F, H, HU, P4,P5 Needed to be programed on a regular basis. If you didn't have a loader you had to pay someone to do it 4 u. If you got hit with an ECM then you were in big dodo. I like it so much I bought the company. Well not all of it.
Just about $40 big ones. When they switched to the P4/5 cards I was sitting pretty.
One small detail. To this DAY they make good ice scrapers. I didn't loose a lot but it did give me some real insight into the retail side of it.
In short in the I save thousands in subs and movie rentals. I also developed a keen interest in a fascinating hobby.
You may not always get 24/7 veiwing,But it is entertaining. It is cheap and more diverse
than anything you can sub to.
These blipps that we are experiencing now are good for the industry as well. the strongest will survive(ridding us of those who lag behind). It keeps the providers in check and on their toes.
I for one am very, very grateful to the people that keep us up and viewing. It's not perfect, but from were I sit there is nothing better.
They build a better mouse trap and we become smarter mice!!
Have a good one all

Well said prophet......it's all just a matter of time, if you pay for other TV service then good for you, if not, bust out the bunny ears....and if thats too much, (and you live north enough) go shovel some snow or something.....the coders always come through!!!!!
Just be patient....

why can i not bring up my menu or even shut the power off with the remote and when I hard boot it the receiver still won't respond to the remote or any of the buttons on the front of the receiver. how would a person ever put a fix on the reciever if the functions don't work at all
well i think yourremote is set to another device so make sure that the remote is set to STB press STB button on remote and then see if its work or check your bateries good luck

Same issue on Viewsat Extreme. Here is how I got mine going.
Reboot with rear switch and turn off with front off button during reboot.
Turn on again with front button change channel to dish channel with front channel switch. Don't stop switching until you get to a good channel. Remote should work now.
Stay away from Bev channels until new fix.
Good Luck
