The 1.0.1.8 update for the CW-3000HD has been released. The highlights of this update are a remote fix to eliminate the buttons disappearing, some scanning tweaks, boot time disk scanning changes, ability to disable adapters with no satellite connection, recent systems can install a hard drive and backup and restore functions.
The disabling of adapters needs to be explained a bit. For those of you with dual tuner systems or other situations where you have tuners with no feed connected you can now disable those tuners. After applying this update and restarting the system you will be presented with a screen that will allow you to disable any tuners that do not have satellite feeds. This should help with the black screens on channel changes. Just disable any tuners that you have in your system that do not have feeds. The screen can also be found at Admin-> Configuration-> Adapter Setup.
Backup and restore functions allow you to save a system configuration to a CDR(W) disk. This will backup all channel lists, user profiles and system settings so they may be restored in the event something really bad happens. You can access these functions from Admin-> Updates-> Backup or Restore. The intent is that you get the system configured so that you are satisfied with it's function and then run the backup to save the configuration. In the event something bad was to happen you can then use that disk to restore the settings. In the case of a complete system restore this will also reinstall a hard drive if one was configured at the time of the backup and will attempt to keep all recordings and media files that are there intact.
The scanning tweaks should help with those of you that have been having problems with the last couple updates.
For those new to the CW Linux update process. All you need is the remote and a network connection. For the network impaired USB stick instructions will follow.
1. Enter the Admin profile from the main screen.
2. Enter the pin (1111 is the default)
3. Highlight updates and press enter.
4. Highlight download and press enter.
5. Make sure the server is the Official CW3000HD Updates.
6. Highlight Check and press enter.
7. You will see 2 entries in the lower boxes. Highlight cw3000hd and press enter.
8. Highlight the cw3000hd-update 1.0.1.8.tar.bz2 file and press the blue button to download.
9. Press the blue button when the download completes.
10. Press the back button to exit the download screen.
11. Highlight Install and press enter.
12. Highlight local on the file screen and press enter.
13. Highlight the cw3000hd-update-1.0.1.8.tar.bz2 file and press the blue button to install.
14. You will see 2 status bars and some messages displayed as the update is installed. Once the "Update Installed Successfully" message is displayed, press the blue button to exit
15. Back all the way out to the main screen and press the power button. Press the yellow button to restart the system.
16. Update complete.
For those without a network connection this update will remove the long wait at startup also. to update your system you will need a usb stick.
1. You can download the update with your computer by going to CaptiveWorks FTP Site (ftp://ftp.captiveworks.org/cw3000hd) and saving the file cw3000hd-update-1.0.1.8.tar.bz2 to your computer.
2. Copy the cw3000hd-update-1.0.1.8.tar.bz2 file to a usb stick.
3. Take the USB stick to the CW-3000HD and insert it into one of the front USB ports. (There is a flip up door on the front of the unit covering the ports. Press on the triangle of dots to open the door.)
4. Enter the Admin profile from the main screen.

6. Highlight updates and press enter.
7. Highlight Install and press enter.
8. Highlight external on the file screen and press enter.

New progress bar at bootup with a message to indicate a disk scan is occurring in the case one does.
Elimination of bootup disk scan as long as shutdown/restart is done correctly.
Changes to satellite scanner to fix the problem that some have seen.

System type automatically detected at boot. No more difference when using the restore CD (1.0.1.8 restore CD image will be released tonight or tomorrow)
